PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a risk of degradation of bearing performance caused by that a seal portion is caught inside of a roller bearing, even when the seal portion is damaged and separated from a spacer.SOLUTION: A bearing device for an axle includes a rolling bearing 2 having an inner ring 3, an outer ring 4, and a plurality of conical rollers 5 disposed therebetween, a rear lid 11 disposed at a basic end side of the inner ring 3, a spacer 21 held between the inner ring 3 and the rear lid 11, and a seal portion 22 fixed to an outer diameter end of the space 21 and closely kept into contract with both of the inner ring 3 and the rear lid 11 at the whole periphery while elastically deformed. A first axial gap G1 with the spacer 21, a second axial gap G2 with the seal portion 22, larger than the first axial gap G1, and a third axial gap G3 disposed at an outer diameter side of the second axial gap G2 and smaller than the second axial gap G2, are axially disposed between the inner ring 3 and the rear lid 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】万が一、シール部が損傷してスペーサと分離されても、転がり軸受の内部に巻き込まれて軸受性能を損なうリスクを回避する。【解決手段】車軸用軸受装置は、内輪3、外輪4、及びこれらの間に介在された複数の円すいころ5を有する転がり軸受2と、内輪3の基端側に設けられた後蓋11と、内輪3と後蓋11とで挟持されたスペーサ21と、スペーサ21の外径端に固着され、内輪3及び後蓋11の双方に弾性変形しながら全周で密着するシール部22とを備える。内輪3と後蓋11との軸方向間に、スペーサ21が介在する第一の軸方向隙間G1と、第一の軸方向隙間G1よりも大きく、シール部22が介在する第二の軸方向隙間G2と、第二の軸方向隙間G2の外径側に設けられ、第二の軸方向隙間G2よりも小さい第三の軸方向隙間G3とを設けた。【選択図】図2
