    【課題】最高変速段で走行中にクラッチ4の係合解除が行われた場合であっても、回転差によるショックを抑制できるとともに、乗員に与える不快感を抑制することを目的とする。【解決手段】手動変速機3が接続されたエンジン2の制御方法は、クラッチ4の係合状態を検出する係合状態検出工程と、エンジン回転数N、及び手動変速機3の変速機回転数Toに基づいて、手動変速機3の変速段を特定する変速段特定工程と、クラッチ4の係合が解除され、かつ特定された変速段が最高変速段でない場合、特定された変速段よりも一段高い変速段の変速比に変速機回転数Toを乗算した値をエンジン2の目標回転数Ntとする第1回転制御工程と、クラッチ4の係合が解除され、かつ特定された変速段が最高変速段の場合、特定された変速段の変速比に変速機回転数Toを乗算した値よりも低い値をエンジン2の目標回転数Ntとする第2回転制御工程とを備えている。【選択図】図4
