PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eyelid opening/closing detector capable of accurately determining opening/closing of eyelids of a subject without using sequential images in time series and an eyelid opening/closing detection method.SOLUTION: The eyelid opening/closing detector includes: an initial detection part for detecting an area of eyes from a face image of a subject generated on the basis of an output of an imaging device which has picked up the face of the subject by using an initial position detection dictionary; a first discriminator for outputting a first determination result on opening/closing of the eyelids of the subject included in the area of the eyes detected by the initial detection part by using a first opening/closing determination dictionary; a second discriminator for outputting a second determination result on opening/closing of the eyes by using a second opening/closing determination dictionary created by using an input image which is different from the first opening/closing determination dictionary; and an integrated determination part for outputting a final determination result on opening/closing of the eyelids by integrally evaluating the determination results of the first discriminator and the second discriminator.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
