PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic drive control device and an automatic drive control method for urging a driver to switch to a manual driving mode in the case of advancing to an area where automatic driving is difficult.SOLUTION: The automatic drive control device includes a navigation controller 2f for detecting a travel point of an own vehicle on a map, a driving mode switch part 4a for switching to a manual driving mode for causing an own vehicle to travel according to a driving operation when the driver performs the driving operation during an automatic driving mode for representatively performing at least a portion of a driving operation of the driver, an automatic driving difficulty determination part 4b for determining whether automatic driving is difficult on a recommended road in an area from information on the area before the travel point of the own vehicle, and a driving mode switch promotion part 4c for urging the driver to switch to the manual driving mode in the case that the automatic driving is determined to be difficult in the area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
