PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a preceding vehicle when making a turn to right or left following the preceding vehicle.SOLUTION: An automatic vehicle speed control device 10 comprises: a first detecting portion 161 that detects a preceding vehicle travelling in front of its own vehicle and detects relative speed and an inter-vehicle distance between its own vehicle and the preceding vehicle; an automatic vehicle speed control portion 162 that automatically controls vehicle speed of its own vehicle on the basis of a detected situation of the preceding vehicle, the relative speed and the inter-vehicle distance; a second detecting portion 163 that detects its own vehicle makes a turn to right or left at an intersection where the vehicle enters; and a detection range control portion 165 that when the second detecting portion 163 detects that the vehicle makes a turn to right or left at the intersection, widens a detection range of the preceding vehicle 2 by the first detecting portion 161 in a direction in which the vehicle makes a turn to right or left.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
