PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the posture of a collision energy absorption device during deformation while absorbing desired collision energy and reducing a load peak value at an initial stage of collision.SOLUTION: A collision energy absorption device of a railway vehicle comprises an outer plate constituting an outer cylinder having an axis line extending in a vehicle longitudinal direction, and at least one partition plate extending in the vehicle longitudinal direction in an interior space surrounded by the outer plate, fixed to the outer plate, and partitioning the interior space. An outer shape of the outer cylinder has a symmetrical shape with a virtual horizontal plane including the axis line as a reference.
