PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device for a four-wheel drive vehicle reducing power loss in a two-wheel drive state and reducing power consumption in a four-wheel drive state as compared with a conventional power transmission device.SOLUTION: Since outer periphery engagement teeth 60b of a differential case 60 and inner periphery engagement teeth 76a of a movable sleeve 76 are disengaged and a power transmission path among a propeller shaft 28 and rear-wheels 16 is cut in a two-wheel drive state, dragging of a multiple-disc clutch is eliminated and power loss in the two-wheel drive state is reduced as compared with a conventional power transmission device releasing the multiple-disc clutch and bringing a vehicle into the two-wheel drive state. Further, a power transmission device for a four-wheel drive vehicle comprises a ratchet mechanism 90 being activated by thrust of the ball cam 82 and capable of holding a position of the movable sleeve 76 in a rotation axis direction C2 at a predetermined position. Since a four-wheel drive state is maintained by the position of the movable sleeve 76 being held by the ratchet mechanism 90, the necessity of continuous supply of a current to an electro-magnet 84 as the conventional one is eliminated, and power consumption in the four-wheel drive state is reduced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】従来に比較して、2輪駆動状態での動力損失を低減させ且つ4輪駆動状態での電力消費を低減させる4輪駆動車両の動力伝達装置を提供する。【解決手段】2輪駆動状態では、デフケース60の外周噛合歯60bと可動スリーブ76の内周噛合歯76aとが離されて、プロペラシャフト28と後輪16との間の動力伝達経路が切断されるので、多板クラッチを解放して2輪駆動状態にするものに比べて、多板クラッチの引き摺りがなくなり2輪駆動状態での動力損失が低減する。また、ボールカム82の推力で作動し所定位置で可動スリーブ76の回転軸線方向C2の位置を保持できるラチェット機構90が備えられ、そのラチェット機構90によって可動スリーブ76の位置が保持されることにより4輪駆動状態が維持されるので、従来のように電磁石84に電流を供給し続ける必要がなくなり4輪駆動状態での電力消費が低減される。【選択図】図3
