PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a damage on a neutral brake which is caused by high-speed idling of a propeller during, for example, coasting navigation, towing for net winding up, and the like.SOLUTION: There are provided a forward backward switching mechanism for switching a rotational power of a main engine mounted on a ship into an output of forward, neutral or backward, an output shaft which transmits an output from the forward backward switching mechanism to a propeller, and a neutral brake for braking the output shaft at the neutral of the forward backward switching mechanism. There are further provided a neutral switch 51 for detecting a neutral state of the forward backward switching mechanism, a rotational speed detection sensor 52 for detecting rotational speed of the output shaft, and a controller which switches the neutral brake between a braking state and a release state based on the detection information of the neutral switch 51 and the rotational speed detection sensor 52.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
