PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a four-wheel drive vehicle avoiding the lack of driving force in a slope where a shift stage of a transfer device is changed over to a low speed side, and stabilizing vehicle behavior, and provide a shift method in four-wheel drive.SOLUTION: A four-wheel drive vehicle includes: a power transmission mechanism 10 having a transfer device 20 connected to an output shaft 15 of an automatic transmission 14; a changeover device 30; and a control device 40 configured to control the automatic transmission 14. The control device 40, when a shift stage of the transfer device 20 is changed over to a low speed side by the changeover device 30, prohibits automatic shift of the automatic transmission 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
