PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently provide a solenoid valve functionable as an expansion device.SOLUTION: A solenoid valve includes a body 35 having an introduction port 44 for introducing a refrigerant, a lead-out port 46 for leading out the refrigerant, and a valve hole 54 formed on a passage connecting the introduction port 44 and the lead-out port 46, a main valve element 60 being brought into contact with and separated from the valve hole 54 to open and close a valve portion, and a solenoid 34 mounted on the body 35 and capable of applying axial driving force to the main valve element 60. The main valve element 60 has a pilot passage 66 opened toward the valve hole 54, and an orifice 28 disposed to communicate the introduction port 44 with the pilot passage 66, and capable of leading out the refrigerant introduced from the introduction port 44 to the pilot passage 66 by throttling and expanding the refrigerant.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
