PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adjacent lane monitoring system capable of properly estimating whether or not another vehicle exists on a traffic lane neighboring to the traffic lane on which an own vehicle is travelling.SOLUTION: The adjacent lane monitoring system calculates a travel track of an own vehicle based on a piece of odometry information, and estimates an adjacent lane area based on the travel track of the own vehicle. An other vehicle detection section detects the position of a target (other vehicle). The adjacent lane monitoring system determines whether or not the target is positioned in the adjacent lane based on the position of the detected target and the estimated adjacent lane area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】自車両が走行している車線の隣の車線に他車両が存在しているか否かを適切に推定できるようにする。【解決手段】オドメトリ情報に基づいて自車走行軌跡を算出し、その自車走行軌跡に基づいて、隣接車線領域を推定する。一方、ターゲット(他車両)の位置を、他車検出部によって検出する。そして、検出されたターゲットの位置と、推定した隣接車線領域とに基づいて、ターゲットが隣接車線内に存在しているか否かを判断する。【選択図】図2
