PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid ship control method feasible and easily applicable to a hybrid ship obtained by modifying a mechanically propelled ship.SOLUTION: A method for controlling a hybrid ship 10 is a method for controlling the hybrid ship 10 provided with a main engine 11, main generators 12 and a motor-generator 13, comprising: causing the motor-generator 13 to perform generator operation or electric motor operation so that a load factor of the main engine 11 is equal to a predetermined load factor ensuring maximum efficiency; and actuating the minimum required number of the main generators 12 so that total generation power generated by the active main generators 12 is lower than a total rated output from the active main generators 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
