PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure capable of suppressing worm teeth from being displaced in a direction perpendicular to a direction of engagement between the worm teeth and a worm wheel and an axial direction of a worm shaft while suppressing a tooth hitting sound from being generated at an engagement part between the worm teeth and worm wheel even when the worm wheel rotates in either direction.SOLUTION: An energizing member 24 constituting energizing means 21 is arranged in such a state that a modulus of section associated with a direction of a bisector between a vector of engagement reaction force applied to a worm shaft 6a when a worm wheel is rotated in one direction and a vector of engagement reaction force when the worm wheel is rotated in the other direction is minimum and a modulus of section associated with a direction perpendicular to the direction of the bisector and the axial direction of the worm shaft 6a is maximum. Then the energizing member 24 is elastically deformed to press a tip-side bearing 9a toward the worm wheel 4 as to the direction of the bisector.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】ウォームホイールが何れの方向に回転した場合にもウォーム歯とウォームホイールとの噛合部で歯打ち音が発生するのを抑えつつ、ウォーム歯とウォームホイールとの噛み合い方向及びウォーム軸の軸方向に対して直角な方向に関する、ウォーム歯の変位を抑えられる構造を実現する。【解決手段】付勢手段21を構成する付勢部材24を、ウォームホイールを一方に回転させた場合にウォーム軸6aに加わる噛み合い反力のベクトルと、同じく他方に回転させた場合の噛み合い反力のベクトルとの二等分線の方向に関する断面係数が最も小さく、且つ、この二等分線の方向及びウォーム軸6aの軸方向に対してそれぞれ直角な方向に関する断面係数が最も大きくなる状態で配置する。そして、付勢部材24を弾性変形させて、前記二等分線の方向に関して、先端側軸受9aをウォームホイール4に向けて押圧する。【選択図】図2
