PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic crawler vehicle and an automatic crawler vehicle operation method, capable of changing a vehicle height, automatically detecting a stuck state and escaping from the stuck state or avoiding the stuck state in advance, switching over between travel at a low center of gravity and travel at an increased vehicle height, and realizing both high traveling performance on a slope or a staircase and high traveling performance on a soft ground.SOLUTION: An automatic crawler vehicle 50 comprises: a vehicle body 52 extending in a front-rear direction; a first crawler device 54 having a pair of right and left endless first crawlers 54e that is located on the right and left of the vehicle body, respectively and supporting the vehicle body; and a second crawler device 56 having an endless second crawler 56d extending from a lateral side surface 54c of one end portion 54a on each side of the first crawler device in the front-rear direction thereof in a direction apart from the vehicle body in the front-rear direction. When it is detected that the vehicle body is in a stuck state, the second crawler device is turned to the other end portion 54b of the first crawler device until a bottom surface 56a of the second crawler device is lower than a bottom surface 52b of the vehicle body, and the second crawler is then rotated, thereby allowing the vehicle body to run.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3

    【課題】車高が変更可能であり、自動でスタック状態を検知して脱出でき、もしくはそれを未然に回避でき、低重心による走行と車高を高くした走行とを切り替えられ、傾斜地や階段における高い走行性と柔らかい地面における高い走行性とを両立できるクローラ式無人車とその動作方法を提供する。【解決手段】クローラ式無人車50が前後方向に延びる車体52と、車体の左右に位置し車体を支える左右一対の無端状の第1クローラ54eを有する第1クローラ装置54と、各第1クローラ装置の前後方向の一端部54aの横方向側面54cから前後方向に車体から離れる方向に延びる無端状の第2クローラ56dを有する第2クローラ装置56とを備える。車体がスタック状態にあることを検知したときに第2クローラ装置の底面56aが車体の底面52bより低くなるまで第2クローラ装置を第1クローラ装置の他端部54b側に旋回させ、その後第2クローラを回転させることにより進行する。【選択図】図3
