PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction drive transport device that can use all the transport carriages in one transport section as a transport device being driven at a constant speed in an abutted state by friction drive means at the beginning of the transport section.SOLUTION: A plurality of pieces of friction drive means 22 are arranged in a transport carriage travel direction, the friction drive means 22 propelling a transport carriage 1 supported so as to be able to move freely along a travel route along its travel direction. The transport carriage 1 includes right-left side projecting floor parts 31a, 31b that are projecting out to its right and left side from a carriage main body 24. Each friction drive means 22 is arranged in the transport carriage travel direction so that a distance D2 between rollers 20 in the transport carriage travel direction sandwiching the transport carriage both from the right and left sides is in a range equal to a maximum distance D1 or smaller than the double the maximum distance D1, the distance D1 being the distance between connection members 38 in the transport carriage travel direction connecting the longitudinal member 36 of the right-left side projecting floor part and the carriage main body 24.
