PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device for a railway vehicle capable of achieving the energy-saving not as a vehicle single body but as the total feeder system.SOLUTION: A driving device for a railway vehicle includes a first power conversion device which converts DC power inputted from an overhead wire into three-phase current and drives a three-phase AC motor, a power storage device which is installed on the vehicle and can charge/discharge the DC power and a second power conversion device which controls an electric current flowing between the power storage device and the first power conversion device. Therein, the second power conversion device switches an operation mode of the power storage device into at least two operation modes of a charging operation, a discharging operation and a stop in accordance with at least one voltage of a voltage of the overhead wire and an input voltage of the first power conversion device when the first power conversion device is during power running operation or during regenerative operation.

    【課題】車両単体ではなくき電システム全体での省エネルギ化を達成し得る鉄道車両用駆動装置を提案する。【解決手段】架線から入力された直流電力を三相交流に変換し三相交流モータを駆動する第一の電力変換装置と、車上に設置され直流電力を充放電可能な蓄電装置と、蓄電装置と第一の電力変換装置との間に流れる電流を制御する第二の電力変換装置とを備える鉄道車両用駆動装置において、第二の電力変換装置は、第一の電力変換装置が力行動作中又は回生動作中に架線の電圧又は第一の電力変換装置の入力電圧のうちの少なくとも一方の電圧に応じて、蓄電装置の動作モードを充電動作、放電動作又は停止の三つ動作モードのうちの少なくとも二つ以上の動作モードに切り替えることを特徴とする。【選択図】図1
