A system, including a computer programmed to control each of an autonomous vehicle propulsion, steering, and braking. The system makes a first determination 105, based on data from a vehicle sensor e.g. radar or ultrasonic, of availability of a vehicle parking area and makes a second determination, based on at least a geolocation of the vehicle 115, a system fault, a conditional boundary and availability of the parking area, to autonomously park in the parking area or space 145. The parking area may be determined based on map data. The system may park the vehicle autonomously and end autonomous control if the vehicle approaches a known problem area e.g. restricted zone, unknown area or weather or traffic zone. The system may transfer control to an occupant of the vehicle, upon request. Biometric data of the occupant may be collected (Fig.3, 155) and compared with a known set of biometric data, and the autonomous vehicle operation may be compared with the manual vehicle operation by the occupant (Fig.3, 185). Upon these comparisons, the occupant may be allowed to take over control of the vehicle (Fig.3, 180).
