The method increasing intensity of a regenerative braking action of a motor vehicle when a driver exerts an action on an activation control unit i.e. brake pedal, of a dissipative braking device of the vehicle. The intensity of the regenerative braking action of the vehicle is reduced when the driver does not exert the action on the control unit of the dissipative braking device of the vehicle. The regenerative braking action of the vehicle is applied progressively, based on speed of the vehicle. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a data medium comprising instructions for performing a regenerative braking method (2) a regenerative braking system for a motor vehicle, comprising a detection unit.
