This document describes techniques and systems for User Interfaces (UI) for driver situational awareness. An exemplified UI may output information to give drivers a greater awareness of potential collision threats, without annoying or desensitizing them using frequent or false alarms. Rather than output strong warnings to elicit an emergency driver response, the UI generates subtle early-warning indicators presented as UI elements showing markers to each potential threat relative to a vehicle path. Each object reported in the UI elements indicate information as subtle cues (e.g., audible, visual, and/or haptic feedback) that are weaker magnitude than signals output for forward-collision or other emergency warnings. This subtlety in information presented in the UI is effective at informing a driver, without alarming or distracting them. A driver that is more aware of potential dangers may drive with greater confidence and without fear of threats hidden from their view.
