There is provided a proximity detection device (100) capable of avoiding detection failure due to light leakage from a light emitting element (110).The proximity detection device (100) according to the present invention includes: a plurality of light emitting elements (110); a plurality of light receiving elements (120); a drive circuit (130) configured to sequentially drive the plurality of light emitting elements (110); a measurement circuit (140) configured to measure a light reception signal of a corresponding light receiving element (120) when the plurality of light emitting elements (110) are sequentially driven; and a control unit (150) configured to control a drive current of a light emitting element (110) such that a light emission amount of the light emitting element (110) is suppressed and amplify a detection signal of a light receiving element (120) to compensate for the suppressed light emission amount during measurement with a relatively short distance between the light emitting element (110) and the light receiving element (120).
