A tire monitor (104) includes a sensor (106) generating tire data. The tire monitor (104) is configured to wake in response to a low frequency interrupt signal received from a remote source (118). Upon waking, the tire monitor scans Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) channels to establish a BLE connection with the remote source. The tire monitor (104) communicates with the remote source 118) over the BLE connection.
