A vehicle axle clamping arrangement for a sprung wheel axle of a vehicle comprises an axle body and a trailing arm crossing the axle body. The trailing arm has a rigid arch shaped axle seat portion with a concave side against which the axle body is seated. A rigid clamping element with an arch shaped engagement side is arranged opposite the axle seat portion. Tensioning means clamp the axle seat portion, the clamping element and the axle body together. The trailing arm has at the axle seat portion in front of the axle body a first abutment surface and the clamping element has an opposite second abutment surface, which are tightened into deadlock by the tensioning means. The rear end of the clamping element has a rear protrusion and the axle seat portion of the trailing arm has a groove-like recess extending in the tangential direction of the axle seat portion and in which the rear protrusion is received. The rear protrusion and the groove-like recess are formed such that there is no interlocking between them in the longitudinal direction of the recess such that, upon tightening or releasing of the tensioning means, the rear protrusion can slide freely into or out of the recess.
