The invention relates to a compressed air supply system for a vehicle. The system comprises at least one compressor (3) which can be driven by the drive machine (1) of the vehicle via at least one transmission (2, 2a, 2b). According to the invention, an analyzing unit (5) is provided which obtains the measurement signal of at least one sensor (4, 4a) as an input and ascertains at least one characteristic variable from the measurement signal, said characteristic variable being a measurement of the mechanical load on the transmission (2, 2a, 2b). The sensor (4, 4a) is arranged in the powertrain between the drive machine (1) and the compressor (3) and/or on the input side of the compressor (3). Thus, a monitoring process can be carried out in order to determine whether the actual mechanical load on the transmission (2, 2a, 2b) corresponds to the load which was expected when designing the maintenance interval for the transmission (2, 2a, 2b). In the event of significant deviations, the maintenance interval, which is specified in kilometers and/or a period of time for example, can be adapted in a corresponding manner.
