A display device 12 has a light source portion 60 which includes a plurality of LEDs 58, and cover portions 38, 40 which cover the light source portion 60. The cover portion 38 includes an opposed portion 74 and a side wall portion 85. The opposed portion 74 has a straight-through portion ST which allows light emitted from the light source portion 60 to travel straightly, whereas the side wall portion 85 has a first scatter portion SC1 which scatters the light emitted from the light source portion 60. Part of the light thrown from the light source portion 60 to the straight-through portion ST leaves the cover portion 38 to the outside without being scattered. A different part of the light thrown to the straight-through portion ST repeats reflection inside the opposed portion 74, reaches the side wall portion 85, and is scattered in the first scatter portion SC1. Of the light emitted from the light source portion 60, part of the light reflected by an inner surface of the cover portion 38 is thrown to the side wall portion 85, and then scattered in the first scatter portion SC1.
