Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to synthetic sensor verification for deployment in a vehicle. A method for verifying that a synthetic sensor or other application may operate in a computing environment of a vehicle is provided. The composite sensor specifies, in a manifest, which sensors of the vehicle from which it will read signals. The synthetic sensor manifest is enhanced by adding an extended generic identifier carrying semantic information to the synthetic sensor manifest. The identifier may then be compared to a unique identifier in a signal directory of the vehicle to ensure that a sensor of the vehicle will provide information with semantics desired by the synthetic sensor.
