The invention provides an object detection device capable of easily setting a detection area and an elevator system. The object detection device is provided with: a region setting unit that sets a plurality of regions for shape data of an object present below a shape data acquirer provided at the upper part of an entrance/exit of an elevator car; a first region recognition unit that recognizes, from the shape data, a door region indicating the position of the door among the plurality of regions by comparing the shape data when the door of the entrance/exit is opened and the shape data when the door of the entrance/exit is closed; a second region recognition unit that recognizes one or more second regions among the plurality of regions of the shape data on the basis of the position of the door region; a detection region setting unit that sets a detection region in at least one of a region including at least a part of the door region and a region including at least a part of the one or more second regions; and a detection processing unit that detects, on the basis of the shape data, whether or not the object to be detected is present in the detection region.
