The invention discloses an elevator traction wheel rope groove abrasion detection method and system, and relates to the technical field of abrasion detection, and the method comprises the steps: collecting a plurality of groups of rope groove images of a traction wheel; the method comprises the following steps: constructing a feature extraction network model based on a traction sheave rope groove contour standard image, and extracting wear regions of multiple groups of rope groove images through a ResNeXt + feature pyramid network and a non-maximum suppression algorithm; contour points of rope groove abrasion in the abrasion area are extracted, and the abrasion area is fitted into an ellipse based on the contour points; and the abrasion area obtained after fitting is converted into abrasion loss, and the abrasion degree of the elevator traction sheave rope groove is detected through the abrasion loss. According to the method, the abrasion degree of the elevator traction sheave rope groove is accurately detected and quantified, the abrasion degree is judged according to the abrasion loss, maintenance measures are further implemented, and safe and reliable operation of elevator equipment is ensured.
