The invention discloses an elevator traction sheave rope groove design structure which comprises a rope groove body contour, and the rope groove body contour comprises a rope groove wall, a transition section, a lower notch groove, a tangent circle, an initial lower notch angle and a final lower notch angle; the transition section is connected with the rope groove wall and the lower notch groove; the tangent circle is tangent to the rope groove wall; the position of the final lower notch angle is determined through the rope groove angle gamma; when gamma is equal to 0 degree, the intersection point of the sunken tangent circle and the final lower notch angle is the width of the lower notch groove; the initial lower notch angle is larger than the final lower notch angle; the contour of the rope groove wall is a linear section or a combination of a straight line and an arc; the transition section is a linear section or a curve section, the starting point of the linear section or the curve section is the intersection point of the rope groove wall and the initial lower notch angle, and the terminal point of the linear section or the curve section is the upper starting point of the lower notch groove; and damage of a rope groove to a steel wire rope is reduced, the initial traction force is improved, the traction condition is improved, the elevator traction balance weight is reduced, unnecessary cost is reduced, and resources are saved.
