A latch assembly for releasably securing a seat assembly to a striker in a motor vehicle. The latch assembly includes a housing bracket, a latch link, a tie-down cam, and a strength cam. The latch link is pivotally coupled to the housing bracket about a first axis of rotation. The tether cam and the strength cam are pivotally coupled to the housing bracket about a second axis of rotation. The strength cam has a first cam surface, a second cam surface, and a third cam surface, and the tie-down cam has a tie-down surface. The latch link has a first latch surface, a second latch surface, and a third latch surface spaced between a first rotation axis and a second rotation axis, and a latch groove oriented away from the first rotation axis and the second rotation axis. The latch link is rotatable between a latched condition engaged with the striker pin and an unlatched condition disengaged from the striker pin. When the latch link is in the latched state and deformed under load, the tie-down surface engages the first latch surface in the latched state and the first and second cam surfaces engage the first and second latch surfaces, respectively, to prevent accidental release of the latch assembly from the latched state to the unlatched state. The third cam surface engages the third latch surface to hold the latch link in an unlatched, held open position.
