The invention relates to a method for guaranteeing the walking stability of railway inspection equipment and the inspection equipment. The inspection equipment comprises a frame, walking wheels, a first limiting assembly and a second limiting assembly. The frame is used for mounting the inspection device; the number of the walking wheels is at least two, and the walking wheels are rotationally installed on the vehicle frame and used for walking on the two steel rails. Each walking wheel is limited through the first limiting assembly and the second limiting assembly so as to keep the relative position of the walking wheel and the steel rail. The first limiting assembly can be movably mounted on the frame close to or away from the steel rail and is used for abutting against the inner side of the steel rail; one side of the second limiting assembly is movably installed on the first limiting assembly so that the other side of the second limiting assembly can be close to or away from the first limiting assembly, and the other side of the second limiting assembly is provided with an abutting position abutting against the outer side of the steel rail and an avoiding position higher than the abutting position. The method comprises the steps that when the inspection equipment walks on the steel rail, the second limiting assembly is controlled to be switched between the avoiding position and the abutting position, so that the inspection equipment stably walks on different road conditions.
