The invention discloses a hybrid electric vehicle control method and device, electronic equipment and a computer readable storage medium, according to the scheme, under the condition that an engine fails to start, corresponding control is executed according to the relation between the remaining electric quantity of a power battery and a set electric quantity threshold value, and under the condition that the remaining electric quantity is large, corresponding control is executed; the driving speed of the automobile is limited to be below the first speed, so that a user can drive the automobile to limp for a certain distance by using the battery power as far as possible to go to a maintenance station or a gas station or pull aside for parking, and therefore, convenience is brought to the user; the automobile is prohibited from executing the driving operation to store a small amount of electric quantity for maintenance or restarting the engine after refueling, and the automobile is prohibited from executing the driving operation or starting the engine under the condition that the residual electric quantity is reduced to be lower, so that the influence on the service life of a power battery caused by frequently starting the engine or continuously driving the automobile under low electric quantity is avoided.
