The invention discloses a brake-free variable cross-section crane beam which comprises a pi-shaped upper wing plate, a web plate with different thicknesses and a lower wing plate, the Pi-shaped upper wing plate comprises a flat plate and two short webs perpendicular to the surface of the flat plate, the webs with different thicknesses are thick on the upper portion and thin on the lower portion, and the two ends of the webs with different thicknesses are welded to the Pi-shaped upper wing plate and the Pi-shaped lower wing plate respectively; the pi-shaped upper wing plate utilizes two short webs to increase the strength and the stability of the upper wing plate; the thickness of the upper half part of the unequal-thickness web plate with the thick upper part and the thin lower part is increased, so that the stability of the upper part of the crane beam is remarkably improved by matching with the pi-shaped upper wing plate while economical efficiency is considered; by means of the pi-shaped upper wing plate and the partially thickened unequal-thickness wing plate, the crane beam can still keep stable without being provided with a side face vertical stiffening plate and a horizontal brake beam.
