An apparatus and a method for compensating for disturbances in rack forces are presented. The apparatus includes a memory and a processor connected to the memory, where the processor obtains an optimal estimate of rack force to minimize an error representing a difference between an actual value of rack force and an estimate of rack force, extracts a specific frequency component from the optimal estimate of rack force, and transmits the extracted specific frequency component to the memory. And subtracting the extracted specific frequency component from the actual value of the rack force in a compensatory manner, thereby eliminating interference reflected in the actual value of the rack force.
