The embodiment of the invention relates to a climbing robot which comprises a front body, a rear body, a waist shaft, a plurality of mechanical legs and a control module. The mechanical legs are arranged on the front body and the rear body respectively and used for crawling along the climbing face. The front body is arranged on the front side of the waist shaft, and the rear body is arranged on the rear side of the waist shaft; the front body and the rear body can rotate relative to the waist shaft with the width direction of the climbing robot as the axis so that the advancing or retreating posture can be adjusted when the climbing robot advances or retreats. The control module is used for controlling the mechanical legs to climb. The front body and the rear body are rotated and bent relative to the waist shaft, so that the climbing robot can raise a certain angle between the front body and the rear body when climbing on a climbing surface, the climbing robot can perform climbing detection in an environment with a complex structure, manual inspection is replaced, and the climbing detection efficiency is improved. And potential safety hazards caused by manual inspection can be avoided.
