The invention relates to the technical field of steering systems, in particular to a high-precision rack position measuring system and method of a steer-by-wire system. A high-precision rack position measuring system of a steer-by-wire system comprises a steering machine shell and a rack, and is characterized in that an inductance type measuring system comprises a displacement element and a fixed element, and the displacement element does linear motion in the horizontal direction relative to the fixed element in a linear displacement mode; the displacement element or the fixing element is connected with the electric control executing mechanism; the displacement element, the fixing element and the electric control executing mechanism are located in the shell. Compared with the prior art, the high-precision rack position measuring system and method for the steer-by-wire system are provided, the system is simple, easy to understand and easy to implement, the system is successfully applied to production of the steer-by-wire system, and the use result meets the requirement.
