The invention relates to a vehicle anti-pitch operation during near stop condition. A brake torque control system of a host vehicle includes a memory and a brake torque control module. For a braking event, the memory stores a plurality of values indicating whether an object in front of the host vehicle has been detected, a rate of the host vehicle, and an expected stop distance or an expected stop position of the host vehicle. The brake control module operates in an anti-pitch mode based on the value, and reduces at least one of an amount of requested brake torque and applied brake pressure for a last remainder of the braking event to reduce pitch of the host vehicle before a full stop is reached, and does not reduce the at least one of the amount of requested braking torque and the applied braking pressure for a portion of the braking event that precedes a last remaining portion of the braking event.
