The invention relates to a method for releasing an electro-hydraulic parking brake (1) of a motor vehicle, in which a vehicle condition is determined; determining a pre-charge pressure demand by the control device (28) as a function of the vehicle condition; generating a hydraulic pre-charge pressure by a pressure generating unit (29) in the event of a pre-charge pressure demand; and directing the pre-charge pressure to the electro-hydraulic parking brake (1) in the event of a parking brake release demand.
