The invention discloses a hydraulic parking braking system and method based on an electro-hydraulic brake. The system comprises the electro-hydraulic brake, a parking braking electromagnetic valve, a parking braking oil pipe, a parking braking hydraulic cylinder, a return elastic part, a piston, a balance rod, a left inhaul cable, a right inhaul cable and a wheel brake. Compared with manual parking braking, the parking braking device has the advantages of being large in braking force, easy to operate and capable of parking through programs. Compared with a common electronic parking brake, the electro-hydraulic brake is directly used as a power source, transmission mechanisms such as a parking brake motor, a worm and a worm gear are not needed, the structure is simple, and the cost is low. Meanwhile, the unsprung mass of the automobile is not increased, and the riding comfort of the automobile is not reduced.
