The invention relates to the technical field of electric power overhaul equipment, and provides a tower climbing inspection robot which is arranged in a channel defined by a crawling ladder and an anti-falling frame and comprises a walking device, a shifting device and a detection device. The walking device is used for walking along the crawling ladder; the first end of the poking device is rotationally connected with the walking device, and the second end of the poking device is connected with the detection device; the shifting device has a first posture and a second posture, the shifting device is in the first posture, and the detection device is located outside the channel; the poking device is in a second posture, and the poking device and the detection device are located in the channel; the shifting device is detachably connected with the transverse plate of the anti-falling frame; under the condition that the poking device is connected with the transverse plate, the poking device is switched from the first posture to the second posture; under the condition that the poking device is separated from the transverse plate, the poking device is switched to the first posture from the second posture; according to the invention, the detection device can extend out of the channel for detection, and can cross the transverse plate to facilitate the walking of the walking device.
