The invention discloses a method and a system for determining the lifting height of a floating crane. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring the reading of an absolute value encoder on a main hook winding drum side and the absolute angle of a boom; determining a reel release layer according to the reading of the absolute value encoder; according to the reel release layer, determining the residual rope capacity of the reel layer and the diameter of the reel release layer steel wire rope winding the reel by one circle; determining the residual rope capacity of the reel release layer according to the diameter of the reel release layer steel wire rope around the reel; subtracting the residual rope capacity of a reel release layer and the residual rope capacity of a reel layer from the highest lifting height, and then subtracting the height of a hook head body to obtain an initial lifting height; according to the absolute angle of the arm support, the lifting compensation height caused by the absolute angle change of the arm support is determined; the sum of the initial lifting height and the lifting compensation height caused by the absolute angle change of the arm support is the final lifting height of the crane. Accurate calculation of the lifting height is achieved.
