A thermal management system for a vehicle includes a main passage (P0), a first branch (P1), and a second branch (P2). A brake system (2) and a first power source (1) which are connected in series with each other are arranged in the main path (P0), a battery (3) is arranged in the first branch (P1), and a motor assembly (41, 42, 43, 44) is arranged in the second branch (P2). The main passage (P0) can selectively communicate with at least one of the first branch (P1) and the second branch (P2), so that the fluid medium in the main passage (P0) can flow through the at least one and then return to the main passage (P0) under the driving of the first power source (1). Therefore, heat generated by the braking system of the vehicle can be fully utilized, energy waste in the braking process of the vehicle is reduced, and the phenomenon of thermal degradation generated by the braking system can be relieved. The invention further provides a working method of the heat management system for the vehicle, and the same effect can be achieved.
