The invention provides a power transmission line crimping pipe detection system and method.The detection system comprises a beam type platform and a crimping pipe detection robot, and the beam type platform is connected with the crimping pipe detection robot through a rope body and used for being arranged on a split conductor to conduct lifting control over the crimping pipe detection robot; the crimping pipe detection robot comprises a robot body and a rotating mechanism connected with the robot body, the rotating mechanism is connected with the detection mechanism, and the crimping pipe detection robot is used for changing the relative position of the detection mechanism and the robot body through the rotating mechanism so as to carry out balance control over the online and offline process and the detection process. According to the invention, the online and offline problem of the robot is solved, the operation efficiency of crimping pipe detection is improved, the labor intensity of operators is reduced, and the operation safety is improved.
