A system for updating in adaptive driving of a vehicle traveling on a route includes a controller adapted for obtaining a pre-driving energy consumption prediction of the route via an energy consumption predictor. The in-drive update module may be selectively executed by the controller at a point in time during the route at which a completed portion of the route has been traversed while the remaining portion remains untraversed. The controller is adapted to acquire an actual energy consumption of a segment in the completed portion of the route. The controller is adapted for obtaining at least one correction factor based on a comparison of the actual energy consumption and the pre-driving energy consumption prediction of the road segment in the completed portion of the route. A pre-drive energy consumption prediction for the remaining portion of the route is adjusted based on the correction factor.
