The invention relates to a method for operating a motor vehicle (1) having a hydraulic brake system (10) with at least one actuatable hydraulic actuator (12, 14), in which the motor vehicle (1) is decelerated as a function of a requested target deceleration (19) by actuating the hydraulic actuator (12, 14) and/or by means of a generator operation of at least one electric machine (9) of the motor vehicle (1), and in which the motor vehicle (1) is decelerated as a function of the requested target deceleration (19) by actuating the hydraulic actuator (12, 14) and/or by means of the generator operation of the at least one electric machine (9) of the motor vehicle (1). The pressure build-up gradient of the hydraulic actuator (12, 14) is limited to a predetermined maximum pressure build-up gradient (dFxMax) in order to limit interference noise generated by the hydraulic actuator (12, 14). According to the invention, the maximum pressure build-up gradient (dFxMax) is specified as a function of a noise level in a passenger zone of the motor vehicle (1).
