The invention relates to a system and method for avoiding secondary collision of a vehicle, and the system comprises a collision sensing assembly which is used for collecting a collision signal of the vehicle in the collision process; the vehicle control assembly is used for obtaining the first actual state of an accelerator pedal of the vehicle and obtaining the second actual state and the actual vehicle speed of a brake pedal of the vehicle at the same time. And the collision control assembly is used for starting the collision sensing assembly when the actual vehicle speed is greater than the preset secondary collision prevention vehicle speed so as to match the optimal secondary collision prevention action according to the first actual state and the second actual state after recognizing that the vehicle is collided based on the collision signal, and driving the vehicle control assembly to execute the optimal secondary collision prevention action. According to the embodiment of the invention, when it is judged that secondary collision needs to be prevented, after the collision signal is collected, the collision control assembly is utilized to drive the vehicle control assembly to execute the optimal secondary collision prevention action, so that secondary collision is prevented, and the influence of user emotion on collision response is reduced.
