The invention relates to a method for installing an elevator system (45), comprising the following steps: using an at least partially assembled traveling body (30) as a movable working platform, the at least partially assembled traveling body (30) being carried by a lifting appliance (50) and having at least one electronic anti-fall device (31); creating an operating state of the electronic safety device (31) by using a control unit (1) which is designed to control the electronic safety device (31) of the elevator system (45), said control unit comprising a safety sensor (11), a processing unit (12) and a signal output (13); connecting the signal output (13) to an electronic anti-drop device (31); a control signal is generated by the processing unit (12) at the signal output (13), which control signal can control the electronic anti-drop device (31); detecting an unsafe operating state by means of a safety sensor (11); actuating the signal output (13) on the basis of the detection of an unsafe operating state by the processing unit (12), such that the electronic anti-drop device (31) can be triggered; after the installation of the elevator device (45), the control unit (1) is removed.
