A knuckle assembly for use with a wheel suspension system of a vehicle, the knuckle assembly having a knuckle configured to mount a wheel thereto and having a knuckle body including upper and lower abutment surfaces, and upper and lower vertical bore portions extending inwardly from the abutment surfaces. The upper vertical bore portion and the lower vertical bore portion constitute part of a single through bore extending between the upper abutment surface and the lower abutment surface. The knuckle assembly has an upper steering shaft and a lower steering shaft, each steering shaft having an inner steering shaft portion fixedly received within a respective vertical bore portion and an outer steering shaft portion protruding from a respective abutment surface. The upper steering shaft and the lower steering shaft constitute an upper portion and a lower portion of the common steering shaft, respectively. The knuckle assembly also has an upper spacer member and a lower spacer member, each spacer member being made of a low friction material and in contact with a respective abutment surface. Each spacer member has a flange portion surrounding an exterior of a corresponding shaft and an in-bore receiving portion that fits closely within a corresponding vertical bore portion and surrounds an interior of the corresponding shaft. Further, the knuckle assembly has an upper joint and a lower joint configured for connecting a knuckle engagement end of a suspension arm to the upper and lower joints so as to allow the arm to pivot thereabout. Each joint contacts a corresponding spacer member separating the joint from a corresponding abutment surface and freely receives an exterior of a corresponding steering shaft so as to allow the knuckle to pivot together with the shaft between the two joints only about a vertical knuckle axis that maintains its positioning and orientation relative to the joints.
