The invention relates to a braking force supplementing device and method for a commercial vehicle. An apparatus for supplementing an embodiment of a braking force of a vehicle includes: a driving unit configured to drive an autonomous unmanned power device; a brake supplementation system connected with the drive unit and configured to supplement a braking force; and a controller configured to determine a brake replenishment condition of the vehicle and to drive the brake replenishment system based on the brake replenishment condition. A brake supplementation system of an embodiment includes: a compressor, wherein a driving unit is configured to apply an electric driving force to the compressor; a gas tank in which compressed air discharged from the compressor is stored; and the brake supplement unit is connected with the discharge end of the gas tank.
