The invention relates to a method for controlling the braking and/or traction of a vehicle, said vehicle comprising wheel tires provided with sensors configured to collect wheel parameters on the wheel tires to measure or estimate slip measurements or estimates from the wheel parameters collected directly on the wheel tires, the vehicle further includes a vehicle control unit, a brake control unit, and a traction control unit, the method comprising the steps of: determining, by the vehicle control unit, a desired slip value based on a vehicle state parameter, the desired slip value being communicated to the brake control unit and the traction control unit; measuring or estimating slip measurements or estimates from the wheel parameters collected by the sensors on the wheel tires, the slip measurements or estimates being communicated to the brake control unit and/or the traction control unit; the wheel slip is controlled by the brake control unit and the traction control unit based on the desired slip value and the slip measurement or estimation.
