When a manifold catalyst (6), which is a catalyst in an exhaust passage (5), is heated, a control means (9) controls the energization of an electric heater (8) for the manifold catalyst (6) and the driving of an internal combustion engine (1) in accordance with the battery SOC of a battery (3). As a result, the hybrid vehicle can heat the manifold catalyst (6) by flexibly using the amount of power consumed by the electric operation of the electric motor (2), and can generally shorten the driving time of the internal combustion engine (1) for heating the catalyst.
